Every device powered by energy poses risks to the health and safety of employees; therefore, it is important that each machine is assessed for compliance with applicable legal regulations and potential hazardous situations that could lead to accidents.
PROESTIMA supports clients in a comprehensive approach to machine safety and offers services aimed at improving machine safety:
- Compliance Assessment During Design Phase – If you are a manufacturer or purchasing a new machine, Proestima will conduct the safety assessment of the machine during the design phase. All non-compliances will be detected during the review of the project, 3D models of the machine, and electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic diagrams, allowing for timely construction adjustments that address safety and compliance issues. This process will save your time and money, ensuring that the constructed machine will already comply with regulations by the final stage of design.
- Machine Compliance Assessment – Every machine introduced to the EU markets must undergo compliance assessment during the design and production phases. This process is required by law and results in obtaining CE marking for the machine and preparing and signing a Declaration of Conformity. If you are a machine manufacturer or a facility producing machines for its own use, Proestima will conduct a compliance assessment and support you during design and construction to achieve full compliance with regulations.
- Machine Safety Audit – If you have doubts about whether the machines installed in your facility are safe, Proestima will conduct a safety audit for you. The audit will result in a report detailing the hazards present on the machine and recommendations regarding risk reduction measures that should be implemented to improve safety.
- Initial and Periodic Machine Inspections – According to the requirements of the regulation on minimum machine requirements, every machine is subject to an initial inspection, which should be performed before the first startup, as well as periodic and special inspections. Proestima will conduct machine inspections in accordance with the minimum requirements regulation and, in the case of detected non-compliances, will provide a report with recommendations.
- Machine Risk Assessment – The risk assessment for a machine is part of the compliance assessment and is conducted in accordance with the requirements of the EN ISO 12100 standard – Safety of machinery – General principles for design – Risk assessment and risk reduction. The risk assessment consists of several steps, with the main part being the identification of hazards and risk evaluation. Following the risk assessment, a risk reduction process is undertaken if necessary. The risk assessment is an iterative process conducted until hazards are eliminated to the extent that is practically possible and until adequate risk reduction is achieved through the application of protection measures.
- Machine Acceptance Tests FAT and SAT – Proestima offers machine acceptance services focusing on safety at the FAT – Factory Acceptance Test and SAT – Site Acceptance Test stages. Proestima engineers conduct the FAT at the manufacturer’s facility, domestically or abroad, identifying non-compliances with regulations and safety principles. After the FAT, a report with recommendations is prepared. The SAT is conducted at the client’s facility focusing on assessing the machine’s compliance with regulations and safety principles.
- Analysis of Machine Control Systems – The safety of employees operating a machine requires an appropriate control system that monitors guards and safety devices to ensure safe machine shutdown. As part of the control system safety analysis service, Proestima will analyze electrical circuits in accordance with the requirements of the EN ISO 13849-1 standard – Safety of machinery – Safety-related parts of control systems — Part 1: General principles for design and EN ISO 13849-2 Safety of machinery — Safety-related parts of control systems — Part 2: Validation. The result of the analysis is to present the achieved level of reliability of the control system, Performance Level, according to the EN 13849-1 standard.
- Validation of Machine Control Systems – Errors that can lead to accidents or hazardous situations can arise at any stage of machine design and construction, as well as during machine operation (e.g., through incorrect repair of machine failures), exposing employees to dangers. The validation service involves checking the functionality of all safety circuits, emergency stop systems, monitoring systems for moving guards, and validating optical safety systems while detecting non-compliances that could lead to accidents due to errors in the machine’s safety system. This service is performed for new machines as part of the acceptance phase or for machines already operating in the facility.
- Machine Stop Time Measurements – Machines equipped with optical safety curtains as a means of protecting employees must be verified according to the requirements of the EN ISO 13855 standard – Safety of machinery – Location of protective devices concerning the approach speeds of parts of the human body. As part of this service, Proestima will conduct measurements of the machine’s stopping time and determine whether the installation location of the safety curtain complies with the requirements of PN EN ISO 13855.
